AVID

avid logoAVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system for elementary through higher education that is designed to increase school wide learning and performance. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change.  Click the link for the AVID BROCHURE.

If you are interested in participating in the AVID program at SRVHS, please fill out the below application and return it to the counseling department by 3/1.

Some of the expectations of students in the AVID program:

1. Take at least one AP class both junior and senior years.

2. Maintain grades of C or better in all classes.

3. Participate in extra/co curricular activities and community service.

4. Utilize organizational tools including binders and planners.

What to expect in AVID at various grade levels:

9th grade- Get organized, take notes, speak publicly, work as a team, ask questions.

10th grade- Build off of 9th grade, practice for the PSAT, research colleges, work collaboratively.

11th grade- Build off of 9th and 10th grades, practice for the SAT, do in-depth college research.

12th grade- Build off of 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, work on college applications, research and apply for scholarships.
