College Fairs, Visits & Workshops - Fall 2020

COLLEGE FAIRS

Please note:  Due to circumstances beyond our control, the originally scheduled Sept. 30th SRVUSD College Night/Fair has been CANCELLED for this year.  We encourage all students to take advantage of these virtual and in-person fairs! 


National (Virtual) College Fairs -  More than 600 colleges and universities will be online to talk with high school juniors and seniors on each of these dates this fall.  Registration required.  Each virtual fair is a free, one-day event. Attend as often as you like. Parents invited, too.

  • Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020; 12 - 8 p.m. ET  (9-5 PST)
  • Monday, Oct. 12, 2020; 1 - 9 p.m. ET (10-6 PST)
  • Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020;  12 - 8 p.m. ET (9-5 PST)
  •  Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020; 2 - 10 p.m. ET (11-7p)

UC (Virtual) Fair Week - September 14-17, 2020 - Registration is AVAILABLE NOW and SPACE is LIMITED!  See the posting in CCC News Feed page for the links to register for each UC's presentation.    

CSU (Virtual) Fair Week - September. 21-24, 2020 - Registration is OPEN!  Space is limited, so sign up right away to hear from each of the campuses you might be interested in!  

California Private/Independent Colleges & Universities Virtual Campus Week - Sept. 21-24, 2020 - Preregistration required and space is limited.  This event is designed to be a forum in which colleges and universities can share information and guide students to resources.  Campuses will present a short live session to allow students to learn more about the college or university. Each college and university has created a registration link, which can be found in the full schedule at this link.


Coalition Colleges Fair: Sept. 16 (3-7p)- 17 (4-8p).  Register for a choice of sessions, each including 5-6 colleges.  


Regional Admissions Counselors of CA:  This consortium of college admissions counselors represent out of state colleges who wish to expand their CA enrollment.  Fall webinars are organized by region, Size of colleges, Topic (WUE, STEM, Religious Affiliation, Test Optional, Visual & Performing Arts).  Sign up for each session individually.  Dates:  9/2-10/20. 


Christian College Fairs.  These fairs have been cancelled for 9/30 and 10/1, but as of 8/31 there is one still scheduled for Modesto on Oct. 5.  But, be sure to check the registration website to view the COVID 19 guidelines.  This website provides a college guide, that may be downloaded for a list of Christian colleges.  


Canadian College Fair - SAVE THE DATE Oct. 6, 2020.  More fair information TBA, but to learn about the college system in Canada, visit the EduCanada Website.  


We will post more college fairs on this page as we learn about them.  In addition, be sure to see the postings on the C&CC News Feed page as we will post other college admissions events there!  

VIRTUAL COLLEGE VISITS (FOR SRVHS STUDENTS)  

This year we will be hosting college visits (virtually) during non-class times:  Monday:  1:45 to 3:15 and Tues., Wed. and Thurs. 11 - 12, in 25 minute sessions.  Additional times may be added later in fall.

Pre-registration is required through Naviance.  Sign up, then plan to check back on the day of the visit for the ZOOM or other virtual link to access the visit. If your visit is during a student support period, be sure to let your teacher know you will be attending.  Roll will be taken and submitted to the attendance department.   

STUDENT WORKSHOPS

The College and Career Center will be hosting two workshops on Wed. Sept. 9th.  Please sign up via the google form link(s) listed below and include and particular questions you wish to have answered!

 

  • 9/9 @ 11 a.m. - SAT/ACT Testing Overview for class of 2021 & beyond...Test Optional?  Test Blind? No Test?   Many colleges have altered their admissions requirements regarding testing for the class of 2021, and some may extend that option to the class of 2022.  I will share the current status, and offer some strategies going forward. 

 

  • 9/9 @ 11:30 a.m. - Navigating College Visits and College Fairs - how to sign up, what to ask, why to participate?  (repeat of the 9/2 workshop).  SRV is hosting colleges virtually, and there are MANY virtual college fairs and events to explore, as well as virtual events hosted by colleges.
